I need some help please with 3K spend
First of all I want to say that I love each and everyone of you miles addicts! happy 2013 to all of you.
My wife has a chase ink card and i am wondering what is the maximum number of miles i can accumulate with a 3K spend.
I cannot use vanilla etc WF PP.
the best thing i came up with so far is the 25% transfer bonus for Avios from SPG points. 20K points + 5K bonus + 25% bonus to Avios
I am sure there are people who can do even better than that and for that reason I have started this thread.
Thank you for your help! I have until the beginning of Febuary.

You can get $500 prepaid at OD x 6 = 15,000 UR --> 16000 Avios.

What is the extra 25% bonus that you refer to? I was thinking of transferring 20k spg points to avios and get the 5 k bonus. Would love another 25%!?

I believe HareKrishnaHareKrishna is proposing to satisfy the $3,000 spend requirement for Ink Bold by purchasing SPG points. This would satisfy to requirement and generate a few extra miles or points, but it would seem to be an inefficient use of funds.
It costs $700 to buy 20,000 Starpoints, which can be converted to 25,000 Avois. That's $0.028 per Avois point.
By comparison American Express Membership Rewards (USA) points can be purchased for $0.025 each, and there is currently a 30% transfer bonus to BA. Net cost $0.019 per Avois point.
I think it would be better to satisfy the spending requirement by purchasing goods and service that are actually needed, rather than overpaying for airline miles or hotel points.

currently British is offering a 25% bonus when you transfer SPG points. so actually its 25000 miles transfer + 25% comes to more than 30,000 avios
that is why i am looking for some better deal. i will look into membership rewards points.

I'm really confused by this thread. Spending $3000 to earn (roughly) 130k Avios doesn't make a lot of sense to me. That would value an Avios point at about 2.3 cents just to break even. Do folks really get that level of value, especially considering the fuel surcharge on most otherwise high-value Avios awards?
Seems like any kind of spend would be better than that... Maybe pre-pay bills (utilities, insurance, ...) or even use one of the 2-3% services to pay mortgage, etc. Even from Japan something must be available...

Starpoint purchases can be made by members whose accounts have been active for a minimum of 14 days. Accounts that are less than the required 14 days in age will have the purchase attempt cancelled.
To be sure there is no misunderstanding, one cannot purchase Membership Rewards points with a Chase credit card. The cost appear on the American Express bill. I mentioned it only to illustrate that the Starwood option is overpriced.
