CC recommendations..?
I hope Im posting this in the correct place, if not my apologies.
It's so confusing trying to find the best credit card for my situation so I thought I'd ask here. My mom wants to open a credit card and add me as an authorized user. And of course I want to earn miles for doing so with my AAdvantage account.. Is this possible? Also, it's only going to be used a few times a year when I go visit her. I wont be spending allot.
Can I get bonus miles if my mom opens an account? Also, can you recommend one? I don't care about a small yearly fee, if it's worth it.
Thanks!

Bonus miles will only go to the primary card holder. Any points earned from spending will apply from either cards.
Are you just looking for an AA credit card? If so, why don't both of you apply for the Citi AA cards? You can look for the topics for them in the forum here where users churned these cards. See here.
If you have a lot of spending in other categories, you can look into opening other credit cards that offer more points.

Some credit cards give extra miles for adding an authorized user, whether the card is used or not. If that's why mom is adding you, for the extra points (usually 5000), I think you can let mom use your name. I'm sure she's done you a favor or two over the years.

If you cant get your own card for whatever reason...Your mom can always redeem the points for a flight in your name with her points though

Assuming the real deal here is kid who can't get card on own is pushing for mom to get card so kid can use miles @:-)-- yep, it can work, but, keep in mind that the big miles benefit is in the bonus miles (say 50K on AA Citi card--be sure to read thread on AA Citi deals) and most of those bonus deals these days require a minimum spend of $3-10K or so within around three months.
And, as mentioned above, miles will go to mom, not kid, even if authorized user. However, mom can use her miles to get a ticket for kid--would be nice to take mom along!

There isn't really too much information in the OP. As others have said, authorized users don't earn points. In the case of AUs, the primary cardholder is responsible for all matters regarding the account, and the authorized user merely gets to borrow on the primary cardholder's credit.
To the OP: your "situation" isn't very clearly described, so I'm not sure how much advice we can really offer you more than what has been offered already.
