Need help deciding on a CC

Currently i have the Citi AA MC Gold and Citi AA AMEX.

I am trying to decide if its worth it for me to stay with AA cards since they no longer count for lifetime status.

I live in DFW so i basically fly AA 99% of the time. So have AA miles is great, but i am wondering if i am better off with say the Amex Platinum or something else i dont even know about.

SPG points transfer 1:1 (actually 20:25) to AAdvantage, so you could go with the SPG card. I think 30k is the current signup bonus?

Sign up for the SPG Amex. The annual fee is lower (free first year, then $65) and the earn rate is better (effectively 1.25 AA miles per dollar, if you transfer blocks of 20,000 SPG points to 25,000 AA miles). This is much more compatible with the American Airlines program than the Platinum Amex.

If you value a few qualifying miles each year (15k I think) and/or lounge access, get the exec card. Otherwise SPG & Platinum give similar benefits (and then some) for only slightly more in annual fees.

If you are not wedded to AA miles for your CC spend:

1. Amex Business Gold gives 3 Membership Rewards points per dollar on airfare.

2. Chase Sapphire Preferred gives 2 Ultimate Rewards points for travel-related spend.

3. SPG Amex is a fine card, too.

+1 for the Chase Sapphire. If of course you are open to other airlines than AA. IMHO it's always good to diversify.
