a bit of advice for a relative noob...
Hey guys,
Sorry if this isn't the appropriate place to be posting this...my issue is as follows: I applied for the AA 75k, but didn't get in before the deadline. I'm now looking at no mileage CC's with possibly two hard credit pulls. I have an excellent FICO score, but I'm assuming that's now been dinged by 10 points.
My question is, what now? Do I go ahead and apply for a different card through a different issuer, (I was looking at SPG or WN, although I prefer the former since I want the points for intl travel), go for the AA 50k, or sit tight a bit before my next application?
Any and all tips would be appreciated.

Chiming in with the same story. I my case the denial was for too much open credit. I closed one old card to cut credit by 15%. Citi makes it hard for travelers to dispute because you have to get a credit report in the mail and then fax it back to be reconsidered. I've let about 40 days pass. Anyone else have a similar story and gone ahead to get another bonus?

If you weren't approved for the AA 75k, and your credit is good, then I would recommend applying for the SPG Amex. Citibank will deny your 3rd application within 60 days automatically, check the AA 75k thread to be sure.

If you applied for 2 Citi 75k cards, then wait at least 60 days before applying for another Citi card, add a couple days to be safe. If you only applied for one, then you are free to apply for another Citi card now, like the current 50k bonus.
Next time, you may be able to get a Citi card by offering to reduce the credit line on another open Citi card--this works for me. Closing your oldest credit card can actually reduce your credit score as it reduces the average age of your accounts, so be careful when closing accounts.

Were your AA 75k applications approved? If you applied before the links went dead, and you were approved, you will still get the sign up bonus points when you complete the minimum spend. No need to call for confirmation, my 75k bonus posted a week ago. Get started on the minimum spend before you apply for more.

Nope, wasn't approved for either one due to the offer being expired, although they processed the applications (according to them...wondering if they dragged their feet to deny people the mileage bonus).
Thanks for the tips, I'll prob go with the SPG AMEX...^
