Replacement Visa...
Good evening all,
I just heard the news about the Schwab Visa, and I am flummoxed, amazed, shocked, and awed about the disaster that the new card will be. Assuming that the rumors are true, and there will be a $75 fee, as well as essentially 1% cash back, once it transfers over, I will be canceling that card. Oh Bank of America, why have you betrayed me?!?
Anyway, so I need a new card. I like to think that I have a good selection of cards, but here's my situation. I have the following cards:
Schwab Visa - 2% cash back... FOR NOW!
SPG Amex - 1 Starpoint per dollar spent, I value SPG points at 2.3 cents or more, a majority of my spending goes here. I love my SPG Amex.
Discover More - I only spend in categories for the bonus, and nothing more. It's essentially a 6.25% cash back card (5% normally, and I redeem for a gift card, so I get a extra 5 bucks when I redeem 20 bucks at the GAP).
Ameriprise World Elite Mastercard - Why in the world do I have this when it is a $150 dollar annual fee and only 1.50% cash back (and a pain in the butt to redeem)? Simple, because I signed up for the promotion way back when that there was no annual fee EVER. Thus, I get a free Priority Pass every year, and I got $200 in Delta Skylounge cards this year for free as well. It's a backup card, I never use it.
Marriott Premier Visa - Normally I wouldn't have this card, but I was staying in a month in Marriott hotels earlier this year, and with the 50,000 point bonus at the time... I accumulated a total of 120,000 points and 2 free night certificates with my stay. It's OK, but I don't use it for anything other than staying at Marriott hotels. The annual certificate makes up for the annual fee.
PenFed Platinum Rewards - 5% cash back on gas. I only use this card for gas. Woo hoo, when I pay 4 bucks for gas, I get 20 cents back. Woo!
So with my Schwab Visa going away, I need a new Visa to replace it. My SPG Amex is good for Amex, but Amex is not accepted everywhere. I don't like paying annual fees, just as a FYI.
I'm thinking that the Fidelity Visa Signature 1.5% cash back might fit the bill. The Venture does have 2% cash back in the form of miles/statement credit, no fee the first year, and they give you $250 as a signing bonus... but, I don't like the annual fee (I keep cards for a long time - it's good for credit), and over time, it won't be as good.
Anybody have any suggestions on a good Visa/Visa Signature card?
