Starbucks Visa Card

I signed up for the Starbucks Visa Card through the link at the Starbucks website last night. After submitting the application, the screen said I would hear something back in 30 days. 30 days? That seems like an awfully long time. There is no number anywhere to call and check the status of the card.

Anyone else get this card and remember how long it took for you to receive it in the mail?

Thanks

It shouldn't take that long to get but be patient. My question to you is, with all the great cards out there, why would you apply for this Visa? Are they offering a big incentive?

My primary card is the AMEX Platinum. I put probably 95% of my purchases on that card. I wanted a Visa that would offer us something unique, and since we enjoy Starbucks it will be nice to get some free drinks and other benefits. It is both a Visa and Starbucks card, so what you earn on the Visa side automatically gets converted to Starbucks "money".

$25 in Starbucks rewards after first purchase. Ability to earn up to 3% with "Automatic reloads", which I am a bit unclear about at this point.

I don't have one, but here's how I understand it.

The card has two accounts, a prepaid Starbucks card and a regular Visa card. The Starbucks account is used for Starbucks purchases. When the prepaid account gets low, an automatic top-up is done from the Visa account. This top-up earns a 3% bonus, so $100 = $103 in your Starbucks account. Other purchases earn 1% for the Starbucks account.

The 30 days is the legally required time limit for them to respond, you should hear from them much sooner.

IME Chase is pretty slow. The last time I applied for one of the United Airlines cards, it was pretty close to 30 days by the time I got the card in the mail, with notification of approval in about a week. After getting used to the application process with Citi, it seemed glacially slow.

SFW,

I realize that you are entitled to apply for any card you want, but this seems to be a strange choice. In short, your created a hard pull on your credit report for a relatively low benefit card. By contrast, you could have applied for a Citicard Aadvantage Visa card, gotten 30,000 miles, paid no first year fee. 30,000 AA miles is worth a whole lot more than a few coffees at Starbucks.

Regarding Chase, let us know if they open the account and if not, why. Chase can be troublesome on account applications.

Just my 2 cents.

I used to have this card. Each month, they take the amount you spend & give you the % of charges back as $ on your starbucks card (same actual card as the cc; it is built in) - when you buy at starbucks & hand them the card, they'll ask if you want to use the visa or sbux card portion. As a daily starbucks customer, it's a good card if you spend a lot on it, so you will get free or discounted coffee :-)

Thanks to everyone for the replies and thoughts.

With the Starbucks Visa, can you manage your card through the Starbucks website or do you have to manage it through Chase online?

The OP wanted something "fun" that comes with $25 to signup, and below average rewards thereafter.
