USA to Spain with 12 Hours layover in Germany - Can we leave airport?
USA citizens, fully vaccinated. It seems Covid test is not required to visit either countries for us. I have to think that we can exit the airport to kill some time before catching our connecting flight to Spain, right? Will we have any issue checking in for Spain when we turn our lengthy "transit" into a "stop" by visiting the city for the day?

No issue whatsoever. Just make sure to fill the German entry form online beforehand (the so-called Einreiseanmeldung).
