Converting to a US certificate
I could not find a thread on this topic, so starting a new one. Moderators please merge if there already is a thread and accept my apologies .
I saw the sticky thread „Converting the US CDC Vaccine card to EU Immunization Pass with QR Code“, but what I need to know is how to convert a Swiss QR certificate to a valid US certificate, which I will apparently need when visiting restaurants in e.g. California.
or is the yellow WHO vaccination booklet valid?
I do not find any useful information on ca.gov or cdc.gov websites…Any help is appreciated.
TIA

There is no “US certificate.”
Each state determines what vaccination proof is valid.

I use my EU code in California for fun.
No one is scanning anything (as its just a piece of paper or a picture of a piece of paper) so as long as it looks good its fine.

I used the French TousAgainstCovid App all over the Bay Area last week to get into restaurants and bars. Worked just fine. (I have a valid EU certificate imported into the French App)

The US literally doesn't care - you can just write on a piece of paper "I'm vaccinated got pfizer on 15th June in Accra, Ghana" and they'll likely accept it.

I have now heard from multiple sources that they simply used the locally-issued (i.e. Swiss QR code) and were accepted in all restaurants and bars.
so yes, I guess they dont care.

In SF they seem to be relatively serious about checking proof of vaccination.
In LA it seems a lot less strict.

One of my sources mentioned is a local S.F. person, does not seem to be strict there either.

Local ordinances for San Francisco, Los Angeles and NYC allow for customers to produce proof of vaccination from their jurisdiction of issuance and they kept it vague. I think they realize that not everybody visiting will have the CDC covid 19 vaccination card, but if anything, these will be templates for future local ordinances across the country. Jurisdictions are issuing their own proofs of vaccination so it isn't really practical specify which ones will be valid.
Don't bother wasting time thinking about it, just bring what you have and enjoy yourself.
If you want to take a side trip to Canada, then any record of your vaccination must be translated into English or French.
