Copa flight in PTY
Have a UA codeshare economy flight on Copa from PTY to BAQ. Does 1K/*G get me anything? Will I potentially be upgraded? Also, what is the lounge situation at PTY. Is it just the AV lounge?

You would only get an Op-up due to *G status if needed, no comp upgrades for any program apart from ConnectMiles
Copa lounge in PTY, better than sitting at the gate, showers, drinks & free wifi

If you are arriving in the evening from IAH/EWR, then taking the 9:42 flight to BAQ, you'll have a 1 1/2 to 2 hour layover. The Copa Club should be convenient enough and less crowded. The food offering in the lounge is pretty meager though. You might be disappointed, especially if you don't get that free 1K snack on the UA inbound,

Can't be any worse than the PAGGS lounge in MNL T1. LOL!

COPA club in PTY sucks, COPA club in BOG rocks, never really understood this. You would thing the flagship lounge would be in PTY but it's in BOG, IMO.
The difference is like ECON- and 1ST class.

There is a new Copa Club being built in T2. This will probably become the flagship lounge

Nope, the Copa zoo is basically your only lounge option in PTY; even OW and ST use it, apart from PP and other lounge and credit card programmes, although access for the latter two can be restricted at certain times of the day.

T2 open and also not open
T2 open and also not open, which is typical Panama.
Open: Terminal Two is servicing a few flights, mostly smaller carriers flying to Colombia and Venezuela.
Not Open: Aside from accessing the gates, nothing else is ready - no restaurants, no lounges, probably not even the toilets.
Tocumen is my most frequent airport. If going through Immigration, go to the stairs on the opposite side of the Duty Free Strip Mall from the stairs most convenient to your flight. The lines are usually much shorter.

I feared as much, I heard that there has been some contract disputes with the gov and the contractors so work has been at a stalemate but what's reported and what happens in Panama is two different stories.
