EUA & Partner Miles

It looks like I am not going to be able to get Gold this year unless continental matches AA's 2xEQM promotion. I have a bunch of continental flights booked for the rest of the year, and instead of accumulating on continental, I am thinking about topping up my former US Airways account to get a 25k award.

I currently have my onepass number in my upcoming itineraries. I will be flying post continental's entrance into Star. Do I simply ask the gate agent to swap out my onepass number for my dividend miles number? Also if I have been EUA'ed will I lose my upgrade if I do this?

Thanks!

You can do the swap online or ask the GA to do it. And yes, you will lose the EUA if they do it correctly.

Thanks sbm. What about a flight where I am already confirmed into "AN" because it is a B-Up? Would I lose my first class seat if I swapped out my onepass number at the gate?

You should, as the upgrade benefit is an elite perk and once you change the number to the other carrier you are no longer an elite. That being said, I have no idea how it would actually process.

FWIW, I believe that UA does have the ability to hold two numbers in their systems, one for determining status and the other for where the miles are credited to.
