EUA Broke?
ewr-mco 1 day out. F is 24/2/1 and no gold eua. no silver eua for wife (separate itinery). Plenty of R available. They don't show upgrade setting anymore, but it was on. CO never holds back like this to mco.

How do you know R is available? I thought they don't list that bucket?

Search for flights with Upgrade Reward availability. I believe it's the same bucket

What is 24/2/1?
As I posted elsewhere, I believe CO is aggressively holding back on EUA's from flights where F is wide open to encourage buy-ups and fee-upgrades.
Did you check the PDA site to see if anyone else was upgraded?
I think you'll get your EUA either right before OLCI opens, or at the gate...just check the PDA site carefully to watch your positioning on the list.

We have seen the same thing with our flights the past several weeks, no Plat or Gold EUAs when there were many open seats. CO didn't even run the 3 hr EUA's (one flight was 16 seats, 3 booked). Gate agents were scrambling to upgrade everyone at the last minute. We believe that a seat behind us went out empty because when they did the upgrades, they had too many boarding passes and couldn't sort out the correct passenger. This one was a short flight and we were already behind schedule. What's wrong with running the 3 hr EUA to help out the gate agents? We were not offered any buy-ups on any of these flights, but cleared at the gates.

It appears the dynamic new program has eliminated EUA's. If you want an 'F' seat, find a way to pay for it.

Maybe EUA is in fact broken for the flight? I thought I read reports here that something wrong with one reservation could cause the process to hang for an entire flight without manual intervention (which typically means the GAs doing it at the last minute).

I have noticed some weird stuff this week. I'm not a regular and am still unsure exactly how the EUA works all the time. I typically at least show on the upgrade list 3 days out as I'm a Gold. However, this week, I wasn't showing up until the day of - maybe the fare I purchased this trip? I was too lazy to call. I ended up being upgraded on 2 of 4 legs, but not until about an hour before takeoff.

I very, very, very rarely get EAU or is it EUA as a PE member. This year I am 1 out of 8, for "upgradable" flights, the only upgrades I get are on B or M when it's offered at the time of booking. So, from my perspective, something can't be broke that never worked in the first place.
NWA used to give 1,000 miles to PE members when they weren't upgraded. CO would go broke with this policy.

My flight this Friday showed 9 A's yesterday and today they are trying to sell a gold elite a fare class 'buy-up' instead of giving me a complimentary upgrade. Its a short flight or I would have bought a 'B' fare from the get go, but this is appalling. It might still work for you Plats, but for this gold, the system has changed for the worse. I should not have an upgrade issue flying to sticky Florida this weekend.

Just got off the phone. Agent confirms that flight tomorrow morning is showing inventory in the category from which EUA's are done. She words it in a way that says that there is more EUA inventory than the number of people on the waitlist. At this point I am first on a list of three people. Seven have already been cleared.
Agent said that she thought that the upgrade should have gone through already. I asked if she could inquire about it since twice before this year I have done so and some supervisor has cleared it. She checked, came back on, and told me that I would have to wait for the system to do it.
I don't expect much as a lowly Silver. But I have no incentive at all to make CO my secondary carrier if the upgrade policy is a farce. The little bit more they hope to gain by upselling away seats from the EUA pool is nothing compared to the loss of the repeat business of Elites that may feel nicely treated by line employees, but lied to by marketing.

not the case at all. I'm still at 90%+ for EUAs this year (non Y/B/M). This morning I was on a $190 r/t fare EWR-ORD and was upgraded 5 days out, as usual.
