M availability on CO Express
Anyone know of any plans to increase / introduce some M CO Express inventory with the new M plat upgrades? One sad consequence of living in a small town is that we don't get upgrades on the ERJ's. Fine. But, the complete lack of M inventory on that 30 minute flight to the hub for my connections means that I can't take advantage of the M upgrades on the longer flights to which I'm connecting.
Is this intentional, e.g., a way to restrict the reward only to travelers originating in the hubs? If not, I and others in my position would enormously appreciate if CO would introduce M inventory on these segments.

What happens if you book the tickets separately? Couldn't you book your flight, and then call Continental to get one of the routes increased to an M fare using the code GG BUYUP that COInsider referred to in previous threads?

Some CO Express has M fares, just for reference I looked up one:
Flight: CO5516
Aircraft: Bombardier CRJ-200
Fare Class: Economy (M)
Meal: Snack
No Special Meal Offered.

Another solution is that CO will allow you to do 2 seperate classes over the phone. Most of the time since I don't believe you can do this on the website, they will waive the phone fee

Even if there isn't a published M fare between your originating city and the hub if there is a published M fare between your originating city and the destination both segments should price in M if there is M inventory. It's called "married segments" and in some cases it's a deal-breaker but in your case could work to your advantage. Are you sure it's a fare issue or is there just no M inventory when you book your flights? If you would care to tell us where you are flying from and to we could look into this further for you.

Thank you all for the kind responses. I typically fly from Lafayette, Louisiana (LFT), and so would also consider Lake Charles (LCH), Alexandria (AEX), or Baton Rouge (BTR). I connect through Houston to go to New York, San Diego, Latin America, or TATL (thus where M fare upgrades don't apply).
I greatly appreciate ya'll's insights, both above and to come.

There is not an M fare published from LFT-EWR:
Ditto for LFT-SAN:
AEX looks the same as does LCH.
There are seats in M inventory available, but no fares that you can purchase to take advantage of that (below is for tomorrow):
I do not think there is a married segments issue at all - that would be a problem if the seats were not available for a non-stop but were with a connection (or v.v.).
And trying to break the fare at IAH will likely require you to actually buy LFT-IAH r/t and then IAH-wherever r/t. That is unlikely to be economically viable.

Wow. Thanks for confirming what I had intuited from co.com, that the inventory just doesn't exist.
Anyone have any ideas on why this would be the case, or a way to bring it to CO's attention, assuming that it is not intentional?
It is a pain to be a plat and generally not be able to take advantage of such a wonderful reward. It also obviously influences my purchasing habits quite a bit, and in a way that I think costs CO revenue.
