I got the same error message this morning. A bit frustrating as I need to buy two tickets today.

(Thank you for your interest in Mileathon. However, the credit-earning period for this promotion expired on Dec. 31, 2009. )

If we receive the error message, are we registered or not?

Registered myself, tried to register husband - getting error message posted above.

I wish it was not a requirement to purchase tickets on continental.com. I travel mostly for business and am required to use my company's travel website.

Hi CO_Nonrev_elite, we've actually run this promotion both ways in the past (bad pun intended). I'll double check to see if one way booking will earn Mileathon credits this time around.

Thanks, Scott, for picking up on this. I assume, since I just tried again and got the same “thanks for trying” message, that you’re referring to Houston time, rather than East Coast time? ;)

So much for the online check-in point I might’ve otherwise held out for today. I’m in LA flying back to EWR in about 3 hours on Flight 16. Actually, auto-check-in already did me in on that one since it checked me in yesterday.

Is that something new? I thought you just earned an extra point for booking online, but as long as you registered, any point earning activity would still get you the points.

I'm in the same boat, but in past years it hasn't been an issue.

I've pretty much given up on flying, unless the trip would take more than 2 days by car. 9 flights this year, 8 with significant delays.

Came here to report the error, but glad to see it's already been noticed. I've tried all morning to register, but no luck.

Maybe you're right.

The Credit Earning Activities say:
Purchase an Economy Class round-trip ticket (8)
Credits awarded on M, H, K, Q, U or V fare classes booked at continental.com. Activity may be repeated. Credits awarded upon travel completion. See terms and conditions for complete details.

But the Purchasing Tickets terms and conditions don't mention anything about the tickets needing to be purchased on continental.com.

Purchasing tickets

Flight credits are earned on tickets purchased and flown in J, F, C, D, Z, Y, B, M, H, K, Q, U or V fare classes. OnePass number must be provided at the time of booking. Credits will be earned upon travel completion. Travel must be completed between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, 2009, to qualify for credit. All qualifying travel must be for round-trip flights operated by Continental Airlines; Continental Express*; Continental Micronesia and Continental Connection** for which you are earning OnePass miles. Not valid on any other codeshare flights. One-way travel will qualify for half of the credit earning indicated for a specified fare class. Bonus miles do not count toward Elite qualification.

*Operated by ExpressJet Airlines, Inc. or Chautauqua Airlines.
**Operated by Cape Air, CommutAir, Gulfstream International Airlines and Colgan Airlines.®

I can't remember the answer to this. If I booked a B fare last week, but fly next week, do I get credit b/c the flying activity is during the Mileathon period? Or do BOTH booking and flying activity need to be during the Mileathon period? Thanks for your replies.
