err Middle Sit

Hi All,

I'm CO PLAT, but flying this time on DL. I'm having a Transatlantic flight tomorrow (which looks full via the seat selector) and I got a middle sit (for a 12 hours flight..).

Any ideas on how to change that and get better sit?

Try "Middle Seat on Delta - Any Ideas?"

C'mon, it would have been worth the trouble to explain the situation in the thread title.

See below. At check-in, there were no seats open? Was your CO FF number in the system?

Can SkyMiles Medallions and SkyTeam Elite members select Coach Choice Seats?
Yes. Medallions and SkyTeam Elite members and companions traveling on the same reservation may select Coach Choice Seats free of charge within 24 hours of departure during Online Check-in or at an airport self-service kiosk. Medallions and SkyTeam Elite members also have access to Preferred seats.

Just call Delta and see what they can do. Is your status showing as Elite Plus when you view your booking on DL.com?

Thanks for replies

Thanks for the replies.

Maybe that's a problem - I see now that my status is showing as Elite (not Elite Plus). I got CO PLAT only 2 days ago.

Shouldn't matter - benefit applies to Elite (Gold / silver) also.

The flight could just be full?

I find that DL tends to hold some seats back. I regularly fly DL1/DL2 JFK-LHR-JFK (752 from EWR? No thanks, I'll just take the DEQM hit...), and always end up calling them for seat assignments after I book, as the DL.com seat map is fairly balky in my experience. I very rarely do not snag an exit or bulkhead seat.

752 from EWR? No thanks.

Then book COs 777 EWR-LHR and your problem is solved

Co has 1 777 and 2 752s per day

The timing of the 772 does not jibe with my schedule. Otherwise, I'd already be Plat this year...

CO 752 vs. DL 767? That's an easy choice - I'd go with the CO 752 every time. Much better product onboard, quicker to get on/off.

Some advice that is intermittently given is that if you have a middle seat assignment, you should clear it and not have an assigned seat. The theory is that it forces the gate to assign you a seat and you can't do any worse than what you already have. It could however put you at risk of a bump.

How can a single aisle 757 be quicker to get on/off than a twin aisle 767?

+1. The two aisles merge into one near the door, hence delays, especially with the kettles....

I personally much prefer the 752, especially row 16, from which exit usually takes no more than 2/3 minutes from the door opening.
