Checking Bags Question
Today I was checking in for a flight (EWR-IAH-PTY) and the online check in asked me if I was checked bags, the # of bags, weight etc. Then it asked me
"To which destination would you like to check your bags?" Then it gave me two choices...IAH or PTY. Is this new? Is this supposed to happen? I wanted to do this last week when I flew from IND-EWR-BUF but wanted to leave my bags in EWR...thought it was not allowed due to security risk etc. I had a friend do it on NW but it was because the ticket agent was very nice. He was flying from JFK to London to Dublin and had the bags checked to London...What is the story? Is this online checkin checking bags question a mistake or is this allowed? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

How long was your layover in IAH?
Bags are to travel with the customer to their final destination. There are times when this will not happen, such as on a forced overnight stay inbetween cities.
