767s - normal power outlets in First?

I'm booked in First next week on a CO 767 (IAH to HNL) - just realized my laptop battery won't last more than 3 hours. I usually fly short segs, so I never bought one of those "cigarette lighter/adapter things" to plug into airplane power.

My husband says there are "normal power outlets" in First on the large planes - anyone have any info on this? If it's not true I need to go out and buy and adapter or a second battery in the next couple days.

Thanks, in advance, to my FT friends, who always know the answers to everything

All CO 767's have power in Business First , but they require the Empower Adaptor, most 777's and 757's have the "normal" outlets.
Also the 739 ER have "normal " Power ports

Nope, the 767's have Empower plugs that require a special adapter.

Worth noting depending on what laptop you have, and before you go out and spend the money on emPower adapter like I did: Some 17" laptops or those that use a lot of power use more power than what the EmPower outlet can provide. Consequently, even though I purchased one, I couldn't use it with my latest Dell XPS 17" ( I think it has a 120W power adapter). Can't wait until they retrofit the 767s with regular 110V outlets.

Thanks so much for the help -
I've got a small Sony Vaio and I'll hope the adapter will work.

Now all I have to do is figure out what to buy. Hopefully they'll know in a Best Buy or a Radio Shack?

Thanks, everyone!

Actually i believe the seventh row on the 767 hawaii has normal outlets. But in seventh row you must be prepared for 2nd or 3rd choice of chow.

I've never seen this before, and I fly that aircraft semi-regularly. Is this new?

Even with the 110V outlets there is a limit to the wattage provided; I do not think it increased to 120 watts/seat.

The 76H only has four rows of BF, not 7. And the 764s don't have a 110V outlet that is supposed to be used by passengers that I've ever seen.

With the Auto/Air adapter on dells that use over 75watts of power you can most times remove you battery and boot it in reduced power usage mode. I have done this many times. By removing the battery it is not trying to charge the battery so your load is reduced, and it can operate in low power mode where you will not get max performance but you can at least use your laptop. Just realize that if you disconnect power for any reason the laptop will just turn off.
