Golf Bag

I'm a newbie, but a lurker, so please take it easy on me!

I'm traveling from LHR to IAH tomorrow and I am thinking about bringing my golf bag. I have a travel case, but it is not a hard shell and I am slightly worried about damage. Does CO take special care of the golf bags or just toss them in with the regular luggage and stack on top of it.

It only counts as 1 checked baggage, right? I've had problems with the agents at LHR about baggage before, so I'm trying to be sorted before I head out.

Thanks!

Blake

Golf bags are checked as oversized bags and therefore get some "special" handling. This does not mean they aren't thrown around like normal bags but they do not always go through the normal bag routing system (although, this depends on the airport). To be safe, I'd wrap a few towels around the heads of your clubs just to give them some extra padding/protection.

Also, a golf bag counts as 1 checked bag and each person is limited to a single oversized bag.

Exactly what I do, and haven't had any damaged clubs.

Do you have a hard straight arm to put inside your bag to help strenghthen it?

Still not as good as a hard case, but does reinforce some.
