Elite upgrade from Y and B fares question
Hi all,
Quick question (did a search but didn't pull up the answer): If you book a reservation in Y or B and are automatically and immediately upgraded, what happens if you've lost your elite status by the time of your flight?
Example: Do not requalify for elite status in 2010. Book ticket in January 2010 (when I'm still elite) for travel in September 2010. Ticket is automatically upgraded to first. Will I subsequently be downgraded once I lose my status?

Once you get the automatic upgrade you don't lose the F seat even if you are no longer an elite at flight time. However, if you end up switching to a different flight -- voluntarily or involuntarily -- you will find yourself back in Y with no hope of an upgrade.
There are no automatic companion upgrade privileges on CO.

how do you know this? I sit explicitly stated so? I presume this is a very unlikely scenario so doubt you answering from experience of others or am i wrong?
