Possible to link 2 different reservation?

I am planning to go to New York with Continental.
I already found the ticket I need and this will be issued with a Continenatal flight number.

During my holidays I my have the opportunity to go to Cancun for a quick break.
I saw that there are interestig flight from Cancun to Newark with Continental. I may even take the Cancun New York flight the same day I will have to take my outbound flight to Paris.

Do you think that Continental will accept to link the two different flights (Cancun to New York and New York Paris) avoiding me the assle to take my luggage in NYC and check in again for Paris?

Thanx

You cannot link the tickets if they are purchased separately. You can check your bags through from CUN to CDG with a cooperative agent in CUN, though it will still require re-claiming your bags in EWR for customs purposes.

sorry not sure if there is any interest in asking to check the luggage from CUN to PAR id I have to reclaim it again and re-check it.

It is a normal procedure I would have to follow if I booked the CUN-PAR (with stop on NYC) on the same ticket (same ticket number)?

If I check my luggae in CUN to PAR would I get the boarding cards from NYC to PAR too?

And most inportant in case of delay of the CUN-NYC flight and missed connection on teh NYC -PAR , would I be granted teh right to take anotehr flight to PAR?

That' s the first time I am going to Mexico from the US so I really do not know how this works so your help is really appreciated.
I have only an European pass.

Yes.

On a single ticket, yes. On two tickets, probably.

Again, on a single ticket yes. On two tickets it is less likely.
