CO.com booking issues - promo codes and fare classes

I'm booking a trip BWI-LAX for a conference later this year, and wanted to use a Chase coupon for it. Usually, the rules are too restrictive for these coupons to be useful... but a mid-week, non-hub, advance purchase, CO metal, refundable fare seemed like it would fit completely within the offer rules.

So I'm using the advanced search feature and selecting "Lowest Refundable Fare." The search results include dozens of flights... and none are refundable fares. I go back and try specific fare classes, Y and B. The same list of non-refundable flights! No matter what I search in economy, I only get deeply discounted fares with very restrictive rules. When I'm booking this far out, I really like the knowledge that I could cancel or adjust the reservation later. An easily upgraded fare class is a perk.

Has anyone else had this issue? I've used these coupons before and thought I could select a fare class! I can't see any other options online that I haven't tried. A Y or B fare would be within the stated rules of the coupon... and I find it a little deceptive that searching for "Lowest Refundable Fare" turns up piles of non-refundables. I read my terms, but someone else could book this and be in for a surprise later!

I'm having the same issue (trying to do the same). The Co.com booking engine gets confused when you try to enter a promo code and specify a fare class. Call the co.com help desk and ask them to manually change the fare class to the desired class. I'm hoping the same works for me.

I've always had to call in to use my coupons. They are a waste. I finally cancelled the card and got USAA Eaglepoints instead. 20,000 points = one roundtrip domestic ticket up to $500, no blackouts, and a significantly lower APR. Those club passes are a waste, so are the coupons, and I have so many miles I can't even use them.
