Continental Do IV Networking Thread
Original credit for this idea goes to familyflier, and I didn't see the thread get started so I'm taking it upon myself to do it.
It seemed like a good idea and I'm just throwing it out there. With 525 people there's bound to be some commonality, and I'm sure there's bound to be some people either looking for work or workers in similar industries. I'll be bringing resumes just on the off chance that someone else in the hotel or service business is attending that I don't know. Of the 525 attendees, I don't personally know 520 of them. Networking is key! @:-)
- Jobs wanted
- Jobs offered
- Cross introductions
- Meeting people from same city or industry

I hope to renew, and make new, FT friendships.
And WOOT for the game!
Tuxedo?? I'm disappointed to say probably no. Bummer.

Nice! Not looking for another job, yet, but would like to know if there are others in the biomedical research field who are attending!

Thanks for the mention! I was waiting for more than one reply in the penalty box and then got busy with kids. How about we start with all interested FTers posting the following here which I'll then try to compile (?):
1) What you're looking for from networking at the DO
2) What you're able to offer to networking at the DO
3) Random fact of interest to get the conversation started
Always open for suggestions....

No need for a job, but I may keep an ear open toward IT for future needs if someone NEEDS hired
I am just looking to meet people, almost never hurts to know anyone!

This makes me wish I could have come to the DO, as I'm currently looking for an assistant position in the media world (LA or NY, preferably both with lots of travel in between!).

Depends on the kind of assisting you have in mind...I'm real good at keeping other people organized.

1. Beyond meeting people, I'm looking for leads.
2.

1) What I'm looking for:
I do space science education and outreach, and I'm always interested in finding potential partners, venues, funding providers, employers, etc. My +1 was hired for her job (in the same field) after meeting her future boss on a long DL flight... so I know the networking that travel-related happenstance can provide! In my work, it's valuable to know people in all sorts of industries to connect with during future projects.
2) What I'm offering:
I'm savvy in getting information to the public - and I'm interested in working with others toward that goal. I work with programs in communities, schools, and other venues that can be adopted or adapted elsewhere. I generate ideas faster than I can implement them, and I'd love to find partners who can use my spare ideas.
3) Random fact of interest:
I have a cache of freeze-dried astronaut ice cream that I can sometimes be persuaded to share, and I get a discount at the Space Trader shops in IAH terminal C & E. I think that makes me a useful person to know!
