Change Fee
What is the change fee for an O fare seat?
Reason I am asking is, I usually buy the cheaper seats, and have changed them many times in the past, further than 24 hours out, and the change fee has been $50, plus class difference. The last time I did this was on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. $50 change fee, no big deal. I went to change my flight from TAM-TPA from 03Jan to 02Jan, and was told it would be a $150 change fee plus class, and the (rude) CSR swore that the $150 change fee has been in effect for the entire year, or at least 8 or 9 months. Which I know to be untrue, since I have changed many flights this year for the $50+class difference.
Which is it? $50 or $150? And if it is $150, when did they change?

It is $150 for almost all fares. I think it went into effect sometime this summer, but cannot swear to the exact date.

It is $150 on most domestic coach fares and has been that way since late April.
Have the $50 changes been within 24 hours of the originally scheduled departure? If so you were likely getting the SDC for $50. Or, if your ticket was purchased prior to the April change you would still be under the old rules.

Yes, it was this summer. Keep in mind also, that CO had low change fees for a while for flights to FL. I remember changing a couple flights to MCO/PBI 2 years ago for like $40. I assume this was to compete with B6 at the time....

Thanks for the info. I know I have not changed anything within 24hrs of the original time, since there is only one flight out of TAM a day. I did purchase a large portion of my tickets for this year in Feb and Mar, and then another batch for next year in Oct, so that is probably what happened. The first changes were all on tickets purchased before April, and now I am starting to use the ones I purchased in Oct.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Yeah...CO used to compete and match the other carriers' change fees if they were lower. These days they don't seem to bother with that. From the current low fare on the EWR-MCO route:
Code:
INSTANT PURCHASE ... [PENALTIES] FARE RULE CANCELLATIONS TICKET IS NON-REFUNDABLE. NOTE - TEXT BELOW NOT VALIDATED FOR AUTOPRICING. IF ANY PART OF THE TICKET IS UNUSED IT HAS NO VALUE AFTER TICKETED DEPARTURE DATE. CHANGES CHARGE USD 150.00 FOR REISSUE.
