Used remaining 120k miles on a trip in J to Africa next summer, I am done with CO. Silver upgrades are non-existent anyway, silver bonus is going down to 25% and overall my travel will be down for 2009 anyway, so its off to *A for me ... see you there

As of today:

EQP's 173 (a lot of H & Y, a few A & R fares w/ 2 per seg)
EQM's 99,956
LFM's 939,508

I probably will fly another 8 to 10 segments before the end of the year. So I should make double plat on EQP's

Another busy year

I've got a quick turn to ATL still scheduled for December so I'll be a bit closer to 30K and either 15 or 16 points, depending on whether I fly CO both ways or pick up a DL segment for the price or schedule.

I'm dropping from Platinum to Silver on March 1, 2009. That's going to hurt a bit, particularly for reward change fees.

After today:
EQM: 71,842
EQP: 85

After Wednesday:
EQM: 73,486
EQP: 87

Nothing else planned for the year, so if a work trip doesn't come to fruition, I'll have to make a quick hop somewhere further than AUS (TPA?!?).

Plat -> Plat

I have one BNA --> MSP rt, and one BNA --> TXL rt before the end of the year, so I'll end with around 54,000

Plat --> Gold

I was hoping to stick with CO next year, after the reinstatement of the 500 mile minimum, but my company just introduced a mandatory web booking engine that grabs the lowest fare class. Before I could chat with a person and get the 100% classes, but no more.

With my travel so much less that in the past years (54,000 miles versus ~150,000 miles for the last 10 years), I'll have to go with NW or DL out of BNA.

why not do two RT to Aus or SAT for $39 one way? Mkae it on points not miles.

A lot cheaper and something to do on a Sat afternoon!

I am close to pulling the trigger on some IAH - AUS/SAT on Dec 21/22 to go from Silver to Gold.

I was just doing the math and the cost per mile calculating bonuses that I would earn next year based on flown miles this year give me a Point run at about 2 cents a mile. Not bad in my book.

They dont, but thats what CO had going for them at the silver level, the 50% bonus along with an occasional upgrade is, for 25%, well, I can get that somewhere else, and for 38k miles flown, I am *Gold, with worldwide lounge access, I can maintain this status with 4 transatlantic trips, which is what most of my flying is anyway.
Of course when BD is taken over by the Germans, will re-evaluate again...

I have BD*G, too. I assume you got comped over as Gold, or you'll need to be flying 57K in year one to reach that magic level. I'd rather fly CO as a silver than UA as a *G. The overall experience is, IME, much more pleasant.

Of course I got it comped, who hasnt But I did already maintain it for one year, mainly due to the UA AKL C fare.

Domestically, I would choose flying CO as a silver rather than UA as a *G too, but for international travel, I think even UA E- is comparable in comfort and service to CO, especially since silvers cant even select exit rows any more, and the connections beyond hubs at FRA/LHR are much more plentiful with UA/LH.
I've been pretty fortunate so far having UA place me in E+ when I asked

I do look forward to flying CO again when they are in Star

Will requalify for Silver, but will probably be switching all of my travel to another carrier next year.
