Combining awards of different series?

Apologies if there is already a thread covering this topic - in fact, I could have sworn I stumbled across something like this accidentally one day, but I couldn't find anything with search.

I want to know if it's possible, on an open-jaw ticket, to combine awards of a different series. Specifically, I want to fly from AUS to IST, and return from AMM, all in J. I think this would be a Series 6 on the outbound (100k round-trip), and a Series 10 on the return (120k round-trip). I guess if this is possible I would expect a 110k cost for the trip.

I don't think it's possible. Both cities in the open jaw must be in the same area as defined by the award zones. What you can do is split awards within the same series in any combination of Standard and EasyPass, and Economy and First/Business/BusinessFirst.

If it doesnt work out why not spend the 120k and treat yourself to Emirates business class from IAH, and fly to DXB and out of AMM and use Jazeera for under $150 to fly DXB-Istanbul

It counted as a 120k award to Africa via DXB (on the A380 to JFK no less!), so I dont see why it wouldnt for just DXB

Here are the relevant Series 10 travel rewards, which makes me think of something:

Code:
SaverPass Roundtrip Economy Class 90,000
SaverPass Roundtrip Business Class/World Business Class 120,000
SaverPass Roundtrip First Class/BusinessFirst/Upper Class 180,000
I wonder if tagging on a CO flight from AUS-IAH first invalidates a potential 120K reward, since that's "first" class, not business class, all 28 minutes of it. Of course I'd be happy to sit in the back for that segment if, for 120K, I can sit in Business Class or a "lower" seat.

no worries there, it certainly doesnt. After Africa-DXB-JFK in Business, I am going from JFK to YYZ in DL "First" on my award, routed via ATL too.... which was ridiculous, but only thing available for now (here is hoping for a schedule change!)

Check out Air Arabia (from Sharjah) and Jazeera for reasonably priced flights in the Middle East
