A serious question. Really

Could I bring silver coins on the plane? I am serious. I have like 500+ coins. I am worried that it might be a problem. I am actually very worried.

I went to Continental's website and it didn't say I could not bring any precious metal but I am still worried.

Has anyone ever brought precious metal on the plane before? Please help me~ I appreciate it!

I cannot see why not. Bring it with a heavy duty bag b/c I am sure they are heavy and place it under the seat in front of you.

The carry-on bag is limited to 40 lbs. While I have never seen carry-on bags weighed, it you have something which was obviously very heavy - they could.

I carried a large collection of silver and gold coins on AA through MEM just last month (not a total of 500 coins though).
The TSA opened my bag and x-rayed all the coins in a seperate bin after looking over them carefully. He said "he's got a bunch of coins" but let me go on the flight. As long as you are not over the weight limit, you should be fine.

Should not be a problem, everytime we have moved my mother has carried all of her jewlery (for the most part gold and stones) in a heavy duty leather bag. The only thing is that since they saw so much metal they would go through it and it was kind of a pain, bc she has everything individually bagged (in those asian silk bags).

If they total 40+ pounds, you should be able to split them up... 40 lbs in your carry-on bag & 40 in your 'personal bag' (briefcase, purse, etc)

If you don't care for them properly, the eggs might be fowl by the time they get home.

Yes ... Just tell Security you are a research scientist carrying a batch of embryonated eggs injected with a viral innoculum to produce the vaccine against the dreaded Araucanian Flu. No one will come anywhere near you for fear of coming down with the disease. You'll probably have the entire FC cabin all to yourself.

That would be fowl, as far as the rules are concerned, because you would need a CDC or, at least, APHIS, permit in order to import such foul eggs to the homeland. I'm not sure if they're only in transit.

To be of most help, I'd need to know what flight are you on, your seat assignment, and what the carrying case looks like.

Money of any kind has been, and always will be banned from all US flights. Geez, don't you know anything?
