Cancellation question

I have three tickets to fly to SFO in November. I need to postpone my trip. CO charges $150 per ticket for the change. Is there any way or excuse that I can use to lower or eliminate the change fee, or am I screwed? I appreciate any advice or help dealing with CO service reps. I really don't want to fork over another $450.

Aside from medical reasons (assuming that is covered in your fare rules), I do not see any way to work around the $150 fee..

On the slim chance you booked this right around the same time you posted, you could cancel within 24 hours for free...

I'm not sure how the insurance works (see here), but you could give that a shot.

Schedule change is probably the only other excuse.

Medical doesn't work anymore on most fares. I just tried to change my mom's ticket when she was hospitalized.

This is the typical rule:

BEFORE DEPARTURE OF JOURNEY AND WITHIN
TKT VALIDITY IN THE CASE OF

SCHEDULED FLIGHT
2. CO FARES ARE USED
3. PRIVATE TARIFFS ARE INCLUDED
4. VALIDATE ADVANCE RES REQUIREMENTS
WHEN BOOKING DATE KNOWN
5. ADV RES IS MEASURED FROM THE REISSU
DATE TO DEPARTURE OF JOURNEY

Hope for a Hurricane or a bad storm to come through and then you can change for free.

If a hurricane hits SFO there are bigger issues than the change fee.

But seriously, welcome to FlyerTalk!
