Booking on copa.com

Having trouble booking anything but flexible elite (Y) on Copa.com. When I call i find out lower fares available (H,K etc.).....lower than Co.com. Orbitz and others offer even much cheaper fares for same flights. Trying to preserve EQM's. Any secrets to booking to SCL?

In COPA if you ticket online you get a 2k bonus

BUT

does COPA have the same restriction regarding earning miles if you book over the phone ?

I just checked my OnePass statement from last June. I had a Copa trip in L (upgraded all 4 segments + companion upgraded on all 4 segments ^^) that I booked on Orbitz and I received 100% credit for the flights. Apparently that has ended now though, as effective with tickets purchased after May 1, 2007 there are the same 50% issues.

I guess the OP is going to need to figure out how to book it online.

you get 1k bonus for booking over the phone, but if I'm not mistaken, the 50% EQM rule applies, but ONLY on the most discounted fares (ISTLO).

Are you booking a round trip itinerary? If you do any multiple destinations, Copa puts the middle segments into fare code Y. Are you booking for a trip over the holidays? I have only found Y and B fares for New Years.

In my own hair-pulling obsession of finding cheaper fares on copaair.com, I have found that fares are usually lower on the weekends. Also, fares jump up and down throughout the day. Best thing to do when you find that fare, jump on it.

Though copa may not be releasing lower fare codes, I think another contribution is that people can reserve a ticket and pay for it within 3 days? at a Copa office. I am convinced this reservation reduces inventory under that code. When people don't pay the reservation within the deadline, the fare seems to reappear again.

You will only get 50% EQM if you book anywhere except copaair.com in fare codes I S T L O. Almost always orbitz and other sites book into these fare codes. If you book into these fares by calling copa's call center, you will get 50% EQM.

Copa Fare Code Buckets

Anyone figured out how to check CM's actual buckets? I too am coming up with much lower fare codes on ITA than are actually available online or via an agent. If they are automatically using Flex Y on multiple destination travel, what's to stop one from booking sequential one way fares?
