Fare Class S

Hey folks,

I had booked a ticket a while back, SFO-EWR-BCN-EWR-SFO, then recently tried to change it online to SFO-EWR-BCN-AMS-IAH-SFO (open jaw arriving BCN, departing AMS). When I went to do it online, the system said there was a fare difference of about $100, plus the change fee of $250, and when I approved it, it came back with an error. I called in, and the agent managed to complete it for me, and she even managed to book it into a lower fare class.

Today I see that the fare class is "S". I've never flown in "S" and was at first worried that it'd only net 50% EQM, but the agents tell me that since I bought the ticket online originally, I'll get 100%.

But I do have a question in all of this: I know my chance of a EUA on SFO-EWR, even as a Platinum, in "S" is nil. But I've never flown IAH-SFO. What chance do you guys think I have for a Sunday late afternoon flight, as a Platinum on an "S" fare?

Slim to none.

It's tough to get upgrades on a Sunday from/to SFO. Sundays and Thursdays are heavy elite travel days. But you could get lucky.

So I guess it doesn't matter than I'm in "S" - I'd be in back regardless.

Oh well...

Thanks guys.
