Quick trip to Zurich
I left on Friday and came back yesterday on a summer BF special.
When checking the PDA site on Friday I noticed the plane was due to come back from SJU 31 minutes before departure. About 2PM I received 3-4 rapid fire trip alerts on my cell phone and computer. At first the departure time kept on getting pushed back and then suddenly it was back to being on time. I rechecked the PDA site and the aircraft # changed to the flight coming back from Rome. OK I thought until I was sitting in the Presidents club and they made an announcement about a aircraft change on the ZRH flight,a 757, lucklily I wasn't one of the BF passengers who got bumped to coach.
Of course there was some confusion with seat assignments and when I got on board there was a young couple who appeared to be drugged up or extremely drunk and they wanted my seat 1B so they could sit together. Thanks in part to reading many posts here I stood my ground and said they should switch with the passenger in row 4. Of course they were impatient and didn't want to wait for that passenger to board and were getting loud and threating not to go if they couldn't sit together. I asked 1E if he didn't mind sitting in row 4 and everything worked out.
We had to wait 45 minutes for the plane to be catered so there were no predepature alchohol which really infuriated the young couple. Also they did not load the appetizers and the crew served the meal without mentioning it at all. I don't mind the small cabin of the 757 but I find the legrest doesn't come up far enough to be comfortable.
We ended up getting to ZRH about 1hour and 20 minutes late. I was able to have an enjoyable afternoon and evening in Zurich.
The same crew was on the flight back and the same flight attendants served BF. I really enjoyed the 767-200 much more than the 757. First I thought the seat was more comfortable especially the legrest. I also thought that the bigger plane made it easier for the FA's to work and serve us better.
1D was empty and they used the tray table to put out the skysnacks. I know we talk ad nausuem about food here but I don't think it has been mentioned that they bake large oatmeal cookies and put them out as part of the skysnacks. Not like you really need them with all the food you get on this flight.
One minor complaint about the crew they turned off the airshow 30 minutes out and when I asked why the ISM said that people would try to use their monitors if she left it on and that would be "very dangerous."
Luckily we made it back 15 minutes early and missed yesterday's thunderstorms. Also terminal B customs was great there was no other plane there when we came in and I was out in less than 10 minutes.
