Connecting in MAD: CO to UX (Air Europa)

Flying CO 62 next week to Madrid (in Y), then connecting to an Air Europa flight to LPA (Las Palmas, Spain). I've never been to Madrid and would like to know what to expect. Is the baggage collection/rechecking process efficient? Will I be rushed with just 1h 50m between flights? ...etc. Thanks!

as in the other thread, you don't need to collect your luggage in Madrid, it will be sent automatically to air europa. I found the connection easy when I went to Malaga through MAD.

Is not checking any luggage—i.e., bringing two carry-ons—a viable option for me in Y?
