All computers are down - system-wide or just LAS?

A complete zoo here in Vegas this morning. All computers are down, people somehow being checked in manually, 2 at a time on a spare machine in the back room. Huge, glacially slow lines. Planes are being held for 15-20mins I'm told, but that's about it. Anyone know if this is just in LAS or elsewhere in the system as well?

Probably just LAS. LAS uses a shared computer system for all airlines, as opposed to each airline having their own.

That sounds like someone with a PC in the back room is doing OLCI for everybody.

but where would they then print the BP from? I don't know too many people carrying a printer in their bag!

I would bet CO has a fax machine there.

I do think this sounds like the shared system in Las VEgas is down. Not a good thing with as many flights as they have through there and not having the PC open just yet. Hopefully it clears up fast.

They were printing out the old-style heavy stock boarding passes and hand-carrying them out. Boarding was done with a printout and a sharpie. I'm told the system went back to normal a few hours later, but plenty of people missed their flights, despite the planes being held for almost an hour in some cases.

Surprisingly enough, despite leaving almost an hour past scheduled time, we landed in CLE only about 40mins late. Didn't dilly-dally on the ground much once we left the gate, and the crew did a pretty good job whipping (err... motivating) those hamsters in their wheels under the wings.
