Triple 752's

Departing for DFW out of CLE and what a sight it was to see 3 752's in CLE today. EWR, LGW, and CDG. Heres hoping for AMS next year to make it 4 at one time. Didn't look like CLE today with all those 757'2.

I saw this yesterday in CLE, too. Flights heading toward London, Paris and Newark.

I mentioned when walking in to the PC that it was fun to see flights to London and Paris. The woman working the door said that there were a few people who has flights scheduled to Europe through EWR, but there was a delay either getting to EWR or from there. She said it was great to reroute them through CDG direct from CLE.

I hope people are able to take advantage of these flights and Continental is able to make them profitable!

What is even better is when you add the 753 that comes in from LAS.

With the current developments in the airline industry, I have my concerns regarding flights from Cleveland to Europe or visa versa when it comes to profitability....

Care to explain?

The last few times ive been in the airport it's been busier than I've seen in a long time. More people would prefer to connect thru Cleveland than fly into EWR and misconnect.

Cleveland has space to grow and Continental needs to look at that extra space as an opportunity to relieve EWR.

I would like to see, although I know it would never happen, is 3 or four flights moved to Cleveland from EWR to compare performance on a number of levels.

I'm well aware of that.

I can tell you that the CDG has been a great reliever for EWR misconnects and has had good O/D as well. I do, however, think it would do better if it left midevening to allow a full day at the office and more connections.

While I certainly think that CLE is in for some cuts in this market, I would think they can fill 752s to London and Paris pretty easily. If they can't, then they should just shut down CLE altogether.

If it left at 7:25pm (instead of the current 5:25pm) then the return flight to EWR would be delayed (the plane does CLE-CDG-EWR daily, it seems). And while a 9am departure from CDG doesn't do much for me, I'm sure that there are some who like that early flight. If the plane just went out and back then it could go a couple hours later, but with the aircraft routing that CO uses I guess that they see more value in getting the EWR flight out later than the CLE flight.

I just believe that when people will stop flying due to costs and economy, the CLE flights might not be strong enough!

Hopefully, CO will prove me wrong, I am happy for every route to stay up!

all of the 752's are in CLE. that explains why the full houston to newark 752 was changed sunday to a 737 creating quite a challenge for the GA's. (who seemed to do a great job with it, i.e. I got on)

Hardly - CLE sees fewer 752's than EWR (where most 752's can be found in the afternoon) or IAH.

If fuel costs go much higher, I expect this to happen sooner rather than later.

I wouldn't disagree with that. Indeed, I would think that every hub that is almost exclusively domestic/Caribbean/near-Latin America traffic is at risk of major cutbacks. I would think that CVG, SLC, MEM, CLE, DEN, and a few others should be sweating bullets at this point.
