Y-down
Recently bumped back down from a Y-up(AU) back to coach due to an equipment change (20 to 16 on an 737). Anyone have an idea how often this happens? I used to have upgrade angst but now I have downgrade angst at 4times the cost of the ticket!

Search for "downgrade" and you'll find some stories about similar events. Supposedly CO compensates for the action, but YMMV.

My favorite is the F-down, paying FC customers who, because of equipment change, are downgraded to Y.
From the posts I have read, these downgraded passengers are not compensated, nor is their FC fare reduced to even full Y.
That always struck me as very strange.

This just strikes me as untrue. I'd be interested to see a post where a paying F customer was downgraded to Y without some sort of compensation and at the very least a refund of the price difference.
