"Bumped" by Gulfstream

Flying EWR-FLL-FPO and back last week.

FLL-FPO leg delayed 4 hours. Not sure why, but pretty sure it wasn't weather.

Upon arrival at FPO, already with boarding pass due to online checkin, we were bumped from the flight along with 10 others due to a downgrade in equipment. Mananged to get on the next flight that was an hour late, still missed connection in FLL and arrived EWR about 4 hours late. No compensation of any sort offered.

Any recommendations for recourse. Looking in the contract of carriage it says that involuntary bumps that come as a result of aircraft downgrade do not qualify for compensation. Do I have any particular ground to stand on, or just complain about the 4hour delays both ways?

This happen to anyone else while flying Gulfstream?

Just send a note to customer service about your delay.

Say you already had boarding pass, and yet were bumped.
Be polite, and a goodwill gesture of some sorts will come your way for a 4 hour delay.

I assume you were bumped from the EMB120 to the B1900, in my 2 years of commuting on Gulfstream FLL/PBI-MHH, I only saw this happened when the loads were light, so it was probably a last resort for them

Isn't this a classic IDB? Why the goodwill then?

As the OP mentioned
"In the contract of carriage it says that involuntary bumps that come as a result of aircraft downgrade do not qualify for compensation"

This was not a classic overbooking situation IBD
They were not required to go thru the motions of asking for volunteers since it was an equipment downgrade, and a quite substantial at that.

Not elite and whatever the fare class was was not full fare coach. Not surprised particularly about being chosen to be bumped, just sort of surprised they didn't offer compensation of any sort.
