Date Change

I bought tickets to Mumbai a couple of weeks ago. I would like to extend my return dates due to a family gathering. Is there any way to avoid the change fee?

Welcome to FlyerTalk!

Sadly there is no way to make that change short of CO making a schedule change that would make your travel plans no longer acceptable. Since the EWR-BOM flights are likely to not change on the schedule, at least not significantly, I would expect that you'll have to pay the change fee. You're alos going to have to pay any fare difference, so if you bought a ticket that cost $1000 initially and now the fare is $1500 you'll have to pay the $500 difference, plus the change fee.

That's why they're called "restricted" tickets.

There are unethical ways to do it. I have not done it, will not do it, and definitely not going to describe them here. But is there any way, yes.

That's mean; I've got something but you're not allowed to see it.

I can think of one way, but it entails ensuring that one of your relatives passes away before the return flight.

Let me think of a cousin or two that I don't like.

But murder is a serious crime.
