Using Bonus Partner Miles
Hi, sorry if this was posted before I searched but couldn't find an answer.
I am trying to collect 25,000 continental onepass points over a series of flights I am taking in April. I am pretty close now and just booking the last leg of my trip from SFO-YVR. Some of the cheapest flights are on Alaska Airlines, which is partnered with Continental. I know the actual miles I travel will be eligible for onepass miles, but what about all the sign up bonuses Alaska gave me for enrolling with their program. They seem to have given me 3,000 points and will give me another 1,000 when I book my first flight.
Am I able to use these bonus miles on Continental Onepass? or only miles I have actually flown. How do you use partner miles, do you transfer them between mileage accounts? or do they just get credited right away to onepass?
Thanks!
David

Those bonus miles would sit in an AS account, not your CO account. Transferring them would happen at a terrible rate, if it can happen at all. Looking at the WebFlyer Mileage Converter tool, it doesn't look like it is possible.
Sorry.

The partner airline (AS in your case) would be allotted an inventory of reward seats on CO flights. Because they are AS miles, you would redeem your miles through AS, and they will try to create an intinerary for you using miles on ALL of their partners, including CO. So when you are ready to redeem your AS miles, contact AS; you can request specific CO flights, and AS will try to accommodate you out of their allotment.
