Sammy: Part of the process involves the status match carrier doing a little checking around with your current airline.

Status matches are available within an alliance. It depends. I moved to MEM and got a status match from CO to NW. I had several flights booked on NW already. The fact that I moved probably made a difference. From reading FT, I assume it takes a good reason for a match.

Really? I can't imagine that CO would tell anyone anything about my account without my PIN, and I don't give that to someone else when going for a match.

Yes, one could try to falsify the report, but that is fraud. I wouldn't recommend trying; I'm pretty sure they could figure it out.

I have not done it myself but have heard the process is fairly rigorous.

And a photocopy of your current FF membership card on the "original" airline. I did it two weeks ago using my AC status and was matched to CO OnePass Elite Gold less than 72 hours later. In fact I've already scored my first complimentary upgrade, but (sacrilege around here) I had to turn it down because Mrs 13F and 13F-ette are both travelling with me on the same flight.

My guess is it is a reference to the EUA on/off switch that is now available on any reservation. If it is on they you're on the list, subject to all the other qualification requirements, of course.

i wonder if its illegal? and that's a good point about your account info, i would hope they wouldn't give out your info.
