change of flight fee question

My mom, non-elite, has a flight tomorrow, FLL-EWR, and she may need to change her flight. Will the cost be the same if she checks in now and has to change the flight vs. if she does not check in and has the change the flight? Please advise.

Thank you,

Yes. They can un-check you in. They don't like to do it, but if you've not flown you can change the flight(s) and there is no extra penalty or fee for having checked in.
