I have a choice from CLE to SAT of an Embraer RJ 145 non-stop or a Boeing 737-800 with one brief stop in Houston. In which plane do you feel less turbulance? If the weather is bad which plane is the safest? I appreciate any advice you can give me.

Both planes are safe so I wouldn't be worried in either. As far as turbulence, you're going to feel it in both planes, but for convenience sake I'd take the nonstop. Anytime I can take a nonstop over a connection/stop, I do it.

From a terrorism standpoint, the ERJ may be safer. IIRC, terrorists have not bombed or hijacked RJs in the western world. These attacks have occurred exclusively to mainline aircraft, esp widebodies.

How tall are ya? I'm over 6feet and I can only handle the ERJ in row 12. I often fly DFW IAH CLE instead of the nonstop. Other issue with nonstop is weather and weight. I've had to make fuel stops on the NS CLE to DFW if its filled to capacity and bad weather.
My dad on the other hand LOVES the ERJ for the gate check luggage and ease of deplaning...

not that the 145 is tiny by any means, but in case of bad weather, I THINK the 737 will have a better time getting off the ground

I don't like sitting in the ERJ that long. CLE-IAH-SAT gets 700 more miles/2 extra segments (round trip) and at least some shot of an upgrade - even as silver.
