I didn't get the e-mail the previous week and retrieved in latter on. But then again it was a bad weather day so I'm sure the system was overloaded with cancellations.

NO-- as per my recent experience EWR-LAS-EWR. Did on line checkin at 24 hr mark, selected autocheck in for the return. At arrival in LAS (my flight home was the next day), I was told I was not on the waitlist for F, but they did put me on it when I asked. Also at the kiosk, there was no option for being put on a waitlist, when I went to print out my boarding pass for my return flight.

Thanks for the info CO Insider. It all worked out in the end, but as my return flight was looking very full, I was prepared to sit in the back. But happily didn't have to

I recently selected auto-checkin for the return portion of a PNR with four passengers on it. The sequence numbers that we received were interesting when compared with our individual OnePass status levels:
Platinum - 1
Gold - 2
Silver - 3
No status - 10
Platinum - 1
Gold - 2
Silver - 3
No status - 10

Likely should merge the two threads. I did not realize one was already started on the subject.

Yep, this has been happening for quite a while and I remember one or two previous threads about this.

I'm not impressed with auto check in. Used it for the first time this week and it put me into the mid-row seat I had originally booked (12E), rather than the window seat I had subsequently changed my reservation to (14A). I rang the help line and they could do nothing about it, even though the seat showed as 14A when I looked at my reservation. Two hours later it shows 12E. Also sequence number is 39. I know it's EWR-IAH, but with platinum I had hoped for a little higher. So the 0/6 run continues

Which problem?
The 39 SEQ could be related to the number of people connecting in EWR to your flight, making 39 not all that high, as they all could've checked in prior to your for their initial flight. As for the seat assignment, when did you move from 12E to 14A? CO Insider did mention that there is something going on with it where it tries to get you the best available seat at the time of check-in, though I can't imagine that it would change a reservation where there is already a seat assigned.

smb12, I was referring to the system putting me into a middle exit seat rather than a window exit seat that I had changed to about a week ago. If that's trying to give you a better seat, I'd rather not bother!

Did you not already have a seat assignment? It should not have changed your seat unless maybe there was an equipment change?

I had a seat assignment when I had first booked (12E). I'd changed that on line about a week ago to 14A, but when the auto check in occured it threw me back to the original 12E, even though when I looked at my flight details on line it still showed 14A. When I checked those details two hours later, the flight details on line showed 12E and 14A was shown as assigned
