"Apple Cup" Invitations
Maybe a little arcane and local for the forum, but anyway - This is a new one to me - an invitation from the Seattle sales rep to a tailgate party and game tickets for the UWashington-WSU "Apple Cup", which as new resident to the NW and not from originally from a big-time college football state I now understand is a Fairly Big Deal around here (or at least based on how people reacted when I showed them the invitation).
1. Has anybody else attended this CO function before? Is it worth it?, and
2. Does CO as a matter of procedure do this in other areas of the country as well? If not, then kudos to the local sales team for some nifty marketing....or
3. Is this some sort of excellent prank by my friends who think I talk about flying waaaay too much. I RSVP'd but not response back as of yet

CO has invited some to golfing events in Houston so maybe they're branching out to other areas.

Gee I have been a PLT for a while now, live in NJ a hub for CO and to date have never been invited to anything.
I have never even received a Birthday Card.

Neither have I!

...we have all been invited to some rather amazing events in Houston, though! Since the event described here involved an invitation from a CO sales person, I'd say we're not in the right target audience. I don't think I've ever met a CO sales person.

Definitely not a prank. This from the Sales Service Manager when I wrote I follow up e-mail
"At the moment we are full, but you are the second person on the waitlist
to clear, so I have been holding off on my response, hoping to get back
to you with good news.
I'll update you for sure this Friday, thank you for your patience.
Yes, it's for you and a guest, when/if we can get you cleared. We had
an overwhelming response
"
I wonder if the same principles apply to this waitlist as if trying to get on an actual plane...........I'd be mad if the person ahead of me was a Silver....

Events
I've been invited to EWR-area events by EWR-area CO people.
As an example, if they had some leftover room in their suite @ Continental Arena for a concert performance, they'd ask me if I wanted to go. However, such invites are far and few between.
I think most event tickets are reserved for their corporate sales force clients, some go to employees for incentives, and the rest of the leftovers are handed over to the Auction folks.
