Compliments to Continental
Just had a quick roundtrip (Business First) on Continental from Newark to Edinburgh. I usually fly AA, and this was my first international flight with CO.
My impressions:
1) Very happy with online check-in.
2) Business lounge at EWR is pretty good.
3) FA were very good on both flights. Took the 10:10 PM flight going and FA were simply first class, and very good on return. Crew chief personally introduced himself to all BF passengers on both flight segments. I had a drink before takeoff. Food was better than average (and a nice touch with the silverware).
4) Seat is pretty good, although I would want a full lie down for a trip to Asia.
5) Entertainment system is very good (20 movies, etc.), although screen could be a little bigger.
6) BMI lounge in EDI needs a serious update (not CO's fault).
All in all, I was impressed with the level of personal service (which I've seen declining on AA). Did I just get lucky or is CO fairly consistent with its international business class service?

PS Scotland is not only the birthplace of golf, and a must pilgrimage for golfers, but the Scottish people are very hospitable and friendly.

How is this not CO's fault? CO contracts for this lounge, and if it's not good, CO should pressure the vendor to improve it, or pull out and use someone's lounge.
CO is fairly consistent with BusinessFirst. Widebodies have slightly better seats and cappuccino machines, though they are just starting to roll out AVOD in the widebodies.

Well, I guess CO has some responsibility. EDI is a small airport, however, and BMI might be the only CO partner there. The lounge feels like something out of the '70s/80s, but it does have Wifi.
But the intent of my post was to convey my favorable impression of CO's international service.

Only on the 772s, not on the 76x birds.
The other lounge options at EDI are the Servisair lounge or the BA lounge. I don't know if either of those is a viable option for CO to switch to. The Servisairseems to be pretty small (only 55 seats) and is open to general public paid access, so that may be too crowded for CO to use. Dunno much about the BA lounge.

I would not say it was luck; I've flown CO BF 3 times within a year from IAH to LGW and service was excellent each time.
BTW, in LGW I used the Emirates Lounge as I was headed to Muscat, or Doha, and the Emirate Lounge surpasses the PC by far.

And those Scots grammar-pedants would want to see an apostrophe, it's Edinburgh
