Probably because it's seeing either EWR or ORD as a connection point, as opposed to an origin or destination.

If you're lucky, yes. But it could just as easily be a CLE or IAH flight.

Should have mentioned that all of these flights are on different days. It's not a mileage run but actual business in each of the cities. No worries about a missed connection.
