Best/Worst PC
I really apologize if this is repetitive....I did a search and couldn't find this thread. It seems like a similar thread is consistently tossed about on the Delta board...I am doing a bunch of flying on CO soon and have a CRC membership. Where are the best PC's (specifically which is the best at IAH and EWR). Also, as an aside, I have to go to PHL often via US, but I am totally sick of it (delays on the first or second flight of the day, on days with beautiful weather, utterly disastrous customer service...on and on) Is EWR a remotely reasonable alternative airport to PHL? (I have business in Buck's County PA).

I can only speak for IAH as I have not done enought flying to EWR to judge the PC's. In IAH the best PC is E. It has recieved numerous awards.

Great, thanks. E it is.

@:-)Best..IAH Terminal E.................Worst ATL...@:-)...However best PC staff..ATL...Worst/Rude Staff IAH..

Best club at EWR is in C3 (the high gates i think its like 124-139?) though the C1 club (across from 71 ish?) is pretty nice as well. The one in A is way too small. EWR is a reasonable alternative to PHL, it is about 1 hr 45 minutes away w/o traffic and bucks county is accessible via NJ Transit trains that run out of EWR. I think the station is called cornwells heights, PA

I would agree about the PC near 120-139 in EWR as being one of the best in the system, although I recently used the one at terminal A in EWR and found it not that bad. They have expanded it into 2 separate rooms--one with the bar, counters etc and the other as you enter, with armchairs and coffee tables. As for transport to the Philadelaphia area, AMTRAK & ACELA stop at the EWR airport station and make it a quick ride into PA. You can then rent a car in the area or take a local train to your destination.

Acela does not stop at EWR, except on certain weekend frequencies. If you want to take Acela, you have to backtrack to Newark on the NJ Transit.

best PC layout is EWR by secuity
best staff - SEA worst everything - LGA Best clubs that you can use are the NW clubs, they beat PC by a mile |

And there is no significant difference between Amtrak's metroliner and Acela unless one wants to go first class on Acela. Acela will get you there only about 10-15 minutes faster.

At peak times, I would avoid the E club at IAH like the plague (as well as the C clubs and the B club). They are becoming so overcrowded that no matter how nice the actual space is, it makes no difference if you cannot find anywhere to sit, and if you must wait in line for 20 minutes simply to get a drink. I have recently seen the bar line in both E and C clubs snake halfway around the club. That's absolutely ridiculous.
If I were traveling at peak times through IAH, and had sufficient time to do so, I would take the airside bus to terminal A and enjoy the newly built A club. It's sparkling clean, uncrowded, and quite nice on the interior. I've never had to wait for a drink there, the wall or table-plugs for laptop power actually work, and I can actually make use of the free wi-fi, because I'm not competing with 300 other patrons for the same connection. As for my favorite clubs outside of hubs: 1. SJU 2. DCA 3. BOS |

OK maybe a dumb question but when people are talking about the PC in C1 I know its upstairs by G71 and 1 needs to go 1/2 way into C1 to get to it. When talking about the PC by the High Gate #s is that the PC that is the Main Hallway once you get passed the TSA check points? or is there a PC somewhere in the C3 like it is in C1? and I just dont know about it? Actually the PC in the Main hallway is between C1 & C2, and is about 1/2 between C1 & C3, so if that is the 1 everyone is referring to by the high gate #s , its not really near to C3 |
Personally, any club that is outside security automatically gets a thumbs down from me. I know it's stupid, but I feel much more relaxed at a club after going through security than before. Thus, I use them, but don't care for LGA, SFO, BOS (although has/will this change?).
Used to love the club at LAX, but I think that is changing also. CLE is decent, DCA is top notch and usually not too crowded, SEA has great staff but is way too small. |
