LAX needs a refurb, big time. It just looks old
The No Outside Food rule I think is everywhere system wide. I agree with it. Left to their own, people would be bringing in boxes of Sbarros pizza and leaving it all over. |

At the same time, I would be most appreciative if CO had something available to eat in the PCs [edit: obviously I mean other than cheese, fruit and carbs]. It could be something clean like a sandwich. At IAH they could get a bunch of Antone's sandwiches and keep'em in a cooler behind the bar. I'd pay $10 for an Antone's Sandwich as I go through Houston.

not a bad Idea, I am stuck for 13 hours at the end of the month at one of the IAH PC's I'd love to be able to camp out there the whole time :D

wow are my standards really skewed? I'm in the pc at lax and man it's not looking good. tables are unwiped, there's garbage around, all of the furniture is showing a lot of wear, and the language of the staff seems to be 'grunt and frown'. and whats with the no outside food policy?

On the other hand, if your time is limited, you need to get purchase your food if you have the time and go to the gate for boarding. If you don't have enough time for that, do you really have enough time to enjoy the PC? (Like me, you run into the PC, grab some eats and run out.) With an entire thread about cheese soup, I cannot imagine the discussion that would go on here if the PC actually became a cafe. |
I'd be happy to buy it outside and clean up after myself when I'm done. It just seems arbitrary and silly, and contrary to the what I perceive to be half the value of the pc to begin with: comfort and convenience.

Most clubs are small - IAH and EWR arr exceptions. Can you imagine what SEA would look like with enough pax bringing in food? |
I know this isn't a PC, but since Continental uses it as a lounge for it's business first passengers, I'd like to nominate the Air China Lounge in Terminal 2 of PEK. That lounge is an absolute joke.
1. No Free Internet 2. No bathroom in the lounge 3. Seats that look like they'd been there (and not cleaned) since the founding of China in 49'. Again, I know its not a President's club, but I'd much rather Continental offer it's BF flyers use of the BGS lounge in PEK like United does, that lounge is 1000% better. |
EWR "handicapped seat"
so today I'm in EWR over in the PC in the main area. you know, not down any one wing of gates in particular - right next to the starbucks.
I walked into the entry area and there are two chairs there. no signs. no occupants. just chairs a couple of dozen feet before the actual counter where check in happens. my phone rang as I passed the chairs, and rather than approach the counter yapping on my phone and then enter the PC still yapping on my phone and irritating people, I stopped and sat in one of the aforementioned chairs to have my conversation in relative peace and where no one was around for me to bother with my talking. after about three minutes, one of the ladies behind the check in counter leans over and interrupts my conversation to yell at me and tell me that if Im checking in that I need to check in, or if not I need to leave. she said "those seats are reserved for handicapped people". again, no signs, no people. am I gonna fight with the lady? no. I excused the rude interruption to the person I was having my call with and told him I'd need to call him back. then I checked in, sat down amidst three other people, and picked up my call again. whats the big deal, seriously? why is everybody so apesh!t about stuff like that? |
Would like to see premium drink complimentary internationally.

My favorite club in ewr is A club. Plus showers to boot.

Dca Pc
Wow, I just visited the DCA PC for the first time this week. What a cool club! I felt like I was stepping back in time to the elegant days of travel. I loved the pictures on the wall of the ballroom or whatever it was back in the day.
If you are at National, be sure to stop in! |
Visited CLE for the first time in a long time last week, and Pam at the bar was awesome. Very good club for the time I was in there, although I can see how the bar area can probably get pretty cramped around rush hours.
A satellite PC at Terminal D in Cleveland probably isn't such a bad idea. LAX absolutely could use a renovation, and seeing that several clubs have recently had some kind of a refresher, from new furniture to major expansions, I have to believe Los Angeles is on the list somewhere, and for good reason. SEA is always such a pleasant little club to visit. Same with FLL, as long as it's not Spring Break time. DCA and DEN are two other favorites, plus HNL simply because it's Hawaii. SJU is way up there too. SFO and LGA lose points for being outside security, but I always find the staff at the former to be extremely friendly. LGA may get my vote for worst in the system. As a Newark-based flyer, I rarely make it out to Flushing, but in the few times I have, the club seemed rather dingy and the staff a little more surly than your average PC contingent. YMMV. Regardless, LGA should probably be on the same list as LAX for upgrades. The new PC at IAH-A is a bit of an oasis to me. Small, uncrowded, new, and bright amidst the chaos that is not uncommon over there. If you have an extended layover at IAH (3h+) I highly recommend trying it out, IMO worth the time spent on the shuttle to and from. Even the rest of Terminal A is like a breath of fresh air, and the food court is halfway decent as well. Perhaps it's some sort of consolation to those who are stuck on Colgan flights. Sometimes I like all the hustle-and-bustle of IAH, but if you want to get away, this is a great little hideout. Looking forward to trying out LAS next week, and, Scott, if you can get into the ears of the powers-that-be, tell them I (along with some other flyers of much higher value than myself) would LOVE to see a club in TPA! |
