Becoming Silver Elite

Hello, my wife will be getting over the 25K Elite miles in October after the outbound legs completed. Will she become silver as soon as that happens? If so, will she get the 50% bonus miles for the inbound trip? How does she avail herself of silver benefits w/o the card? We are looking at the 70 lbs. baggage limit.

One other question, is CO President Club free for kids under 2?

Yes, she will be silver elite after the outbound, and can enjoy all the benefits on the return trip.

Her boarding passes will have the "Elite Access" logo printed on it, either when doing OLCI or at a kiosk at the airport. She can use the elite line (i.e. blue carpet) immediately.

If she wants a temporary card, log on to continental.com. On the multi-colored "My Account" page, there's a link in small prints under the Elite-o-meter that says "Print Duplicate OnePass Card". Click there and print her own silver elite card.

Won't this only be the case if the miles from the outbound have posted before the date of the return trip?

She will be elite after the miles post to her account, usually a few days after the flight. For a copy of the card, log in to the OnePass account and click on Print Duplicate OnePass Card.

When I requalified for Silver in November it was after the first flt. of a RT. I called CS and they were able to look at the record and adjust my profile even though the miles had not posted yet. The Elite Access did appear on my BP for the return flt which was 2 days later. So, just call Customer Service and it should be no problem
Cheers

Thanks guys. There is a 2 week gap between the outbound and inbound. If her status is not adjusted by then, I will call up CS and see if they can adjust her status.

Any ideas on the PC question?

I love the way Delta does it: the minute the boarding pass is scanned, the miles appear in the account--no waiting. Of course, elite status upgrades aren't handled until the weekend, so in that sense, it's pretty similar to CO.

It's a nice feature that a customer can call CO and get 'promoted' to the next level in advance!

Thanks for the info. I have a 7.5 hour break in EWR. I figured that using the PC would be beneficial. Just applied and got approved for the Citi Amex Plat card which gives 3 Priority Pass free, which I intend to use for the PC in EWR. Which is the best PC there? On a related note, is there a max time limit to stay in the PC? I understand that some lounges have a 3 hour max limit.

I do not know of a time limit to using the PC. In EWR my personal favorite is the club by C75. It always seem to have a lesser amount of people compared to the other one.

The upstairs one (C75) is less crowded usually, but it is darker and has no view to speak of unless you like watching the food court. The one between C2/C3 has a great view of the apron and gates between the two terminals, so if you enjoy watching the planes it is way better. No time limit at either.

Thanks. I am looking at the PP book about lounges at EWR. They list 6. 3 are PC, first at terminal A, at C75, and C120. So I am assuming that you are talking about the last one, between gates 120-139. The other lounges are united red carpet (Term. A), delta crown room (Term. B) and northwest worldclub (Term. B). Which is the best that you prefer? We will be using the lounge in the morning from 7:30 AM to around 1 PM. Which lounge should I go to? (This is my first time in any lounge). Primary considerations, a little breakfast in morning, free entry for my kid under 2 and something to keep her busy, good broadband internet as I will have my laptop with me and free booze after noon.

Why not start with the booze before noon? It is always happy hour somewhere...
