Bumps Today at EWR

A friend of my son's was flying on a reward ticket I gave him from SNA-EWR (red-eye last night)-MCO (7 am this morning). The EWR-MCO portion was overbooked by more than 20 people. CO ended up changing aircraft, but still had to bump people.

My son's friend took the $500 and a 4 pm flight (upgraded to 1st). Not bad for a reward seat! Apparently, all the EWR-MCO flights were oversold today.

Well they now have an additional 3 hrs to enjoy EWR, if the flight goes off that is. CO has been cancelling alot of flights due to the Serve Thunderstorm activity that hit the area around an hour ago.

I too probably would have gone for the Bump but now w/o a hotel being paid for nor food, and its still too early to know what additional flights will be cancelled or Delayed further, Hindsight if it was me I would have wished I took the morning flight, as alot of that $500 can be chewed up if they dont get to MCO tonight.

They've offered him another $500, a hotel room tonight, and 3 meals if he takes an additional bump and flies out tomorrow evening, providing that they need it (a lot of people are missing connections due to the weather).

The incoming 753 for CO392, the 4:05pm EWR-MCO, is CO1049 from SFO. It was diverted to SWF and is still sitting there, as of right now, 6:10pm EDT. No way 392 can depart at 7:17pm, as currently scheduled.

I'm still kicking myself for not taking a bump and $500 to TPA a month ago. I had to be somewhere at 6pm and the flight offered was cutting it close.

I think they need more flights to florida at certain times.

Of course, when I'm in no particular hurry, they never make an offer

I hope your son's friend took the offer ^

I hope now that he has scored two VDB vouchers he gives at least one to you. If it weren't for your generosity he wouldn't be in a position to get this compensation. I know I would have given you the first voucher had it been me.

I'd hope he'd take my son on his next jaunt with one of the vouchers as they are friends-I wouldn't expect to be compensated personally but that would be a nice gesture although not expected or assumed.

$500 twice the same day is better than anything I've ever been able to score. Wow! I'm suitably impressed.

Dont forget the OP said the offer was there if CO was gonna Bump anyone, the OP never got back to update if in fact CO did Bump anyone and if yes did person get a 2nd 1

I actually was lucky a few yrs ago out of TLV got the VDB for the 84 in the morn $500 and a hotel room, only to get the VDB for the 91 that night and back to the same Hotel and another $500. The next day got my 3rd VDB on the 84 in the morn, but my luck ran out as they only wanted families for VDBing for the 91 that 2nd night. Add to that a $700 on the way over out of EWR.

He did get two $500 vouchers on two bumps in one day. He also got a hotel voucher (which he gave to someone at EWR who had a cancellation due to weather and $32 in meal coupons.

They were offering $500 on CO49 this (Monday) morning (EWR->IAH). They had no seats in first or coach until 10:00am on Tuesday morning which I found shocking with the amount of flights on this route.
