Married segment debacle

Hi all. I am holding a standard reward reservation LAX-HOU-LGW. I need to change the second segment to HOU-AMS, for which there is space available. CO tells me, though, that my original reservation involves "married segments," that they cannot change only the second segment, and that there is no LAX-HOU space available anymore! Are they right? Is there a workaround I can tell the CO agent so that he or she can make this change?

Thanks!

I believe you meant LAX-IAH-LGW.

Do you need to go through IAH? What other routes have you checked?

It is the only one-stop route available.

So my question remains. Any way to change the second of two married segments booked for reward travel?

Revenue management can be bizzare, It is even possible for XX-YY and YY-ZZ each may be available but XX-ZZ connecting through YY is not.

My question remains. Is there a code, an override, an approach that would allow a CO agent to alter the second segment of two that were booked as married segments?

There are several one-stop routes, and even one non-stop route. Instead of trying to work around their inventory, why not check to see if one of these is available first:

LAX-KL-AMS
LAX-CO-IAH-CO-AMS
LAX-CO-IAH-KL-AMS
LAX-CO-EWR-CO-AMS
LAX-CO-EWR-KL-AMS
LAX-AS-SFO-KL-AMS
LAX-AS-SEA-NW-AMS
LAX-NW-DTW-NW-AMS
LAX-NW-MSP-NW-AMS
LAX-DL-ATL-DL-AMS
LAX-DL-JFK-DL-AMS
LAX-DL-JFK-KL-AMS
LAX-AF-CDG-KL-AMS
LAX-AF-CDG-AF-AMS
LAX-VS-LHR-KL-AMS
LAX-DL-BOS-NW-AMS
