777 EWR-SEA on 9/9

On September 9, CO 1990 (EWR-SEA) will operate with 777 equipment. An employee of mine just booked coach and asked me why there were so many seats

Wonder why it's heading there.

Deadheading to HKG afterwards to get reconfigured?

I would guess reconfiguration/major overhaul (D-Checks -some of COs 777s are over 10 years old) as well. I would also guess non-stop to HKG from SEA. Its odd in that they usually run this type of flight thru HNL and GUM from IAH or LAX.

That is my guess, or they may be doing the work in Seattle.

hmmm.... I might take this opportunity to do a little mini-MR. Fly a 752 IAH-EWR, 772ER EWR-SEA, and a 739 SEA-IAH @:-)

I like it!

This sounds more like an ER than an MR. ER=Equipment Run.

Well the price would be right around $.08/mile which isn't great but would still put me close to making elite this year.

Usually when a 777 is going for HKG MX, it flies EWR-LAX-HNL-GUM-HKG to allow for revenue while the planes travel to and from HKG.

SEA is strange but maybe BOEING is going to do some work on the plane or maybe it is a charter of some sorts.

Recently, only the 764s do it that way, and most often they just deadhead HNL-HKG or GUM-HKG, instead of trying to match the schedule.

With the 772, they have more leeway. And a couple of times in the last few years when the Polar Route was unavailable, they've flown CO99 as EWR-SEA-HKG. Which is why I am thinking the plane may be deadheading to HKG.

9/9 Domestic 777 'Do?

Just for a lark, I have a CLE-EWR-SEA-CLE itinerary held until midnight tomorrow. I snagged the 777's coveted 44AB for the statuesque Mrs. RNE and me. ^ Now, I have a day to convince her it's worh the money to go to Seattle and Vancouver for a few days. Surprisingly, for as well traveled as we are, neither of us has ever been to the Northwest! That novelty will be a good lever to secure her approval. So too will lying about the cost! Shhh.

RNE, if you need some help convincing her, I'm sitting at a window at my friend's place looking down on Elliott Bay, where there are two ferries and some tugboats on the water. I'm eating some super juicy doughnut peaches, waiting for a copper river salmon to come off the grill. We have a bunch of HUGE sunflowers on the table that we picked up at the market for $1/stem. And it's 83, no humidity, light breeze. This place is perfect. ^
