Miles question
I’m currently platinum and trying to book a reward trip for two to Europe, on the outbound portion I can find economy (25K miles) but on the return only easyPass (50K miles) is available for the dates I want, so the question is:
If I book it now for a total of 150k miles and later the dates I want become available for economy can I get the 50k miles back from Continental?
If I book it now for a total of 150k miles and later the dates I want become available for economy can I get the 50k miles back from Continental?

I'd call CO and see if they can find the dates you want at the redemption level that interests you. They can always check partner airlines too.
There's nothing stopping you from canceling a reward ticket then rebooking it later. Of course, inventory changes from second-to-second, so there's no guarantee that things will work out the way you want.

As a platinum you can change/redeposit for free. And you can change the return without changing the outbound, so that should be no problem for you.
And, as ContinentalFan noted, you may be able to call in and find availability today on a partner or different routing, which saves the miles now instead of getting them back later.
And welcome to the party!
